Coordinated Execution for Humanitarian Logistics Operations

BFI El Salvador Successfully Coordinates Complex Humanitarian Logistics Operation Under International Framework

BFI El Salvador has successfully managed the integral logistics coordination of a high-level humanitarian operation, supporting the mobilization of a military contingent an international mission under the framework of the United Nations.

This operation represents a significant milestone in the company’s capability to execute complex, non-commercial logistics projects, requiring advanced planning, strict compliance, and seamless coordination across multiple stakeholders.

Comprehensive Logistics Execution

The project involved the end-to-end coordination of critical assets owned by the contingent, including vehicles, heavy equipment, and mission-essential cargo. Each component required specialized handling procedures, operational control, and adherence to international logistics standards.

The scope of execution included:

  • Cargo collection and controlled consolidation
  • Export customs processing under special regulatory conditions
  • International maritime transport coordination
  • Multimodal delivery execution ensuring continuity and control throughout the operation

This type of operation demands not only technical expertise but also the ability to maintain operational integrity under sensitive and high-responsibility conditions.

Operating Within a Humanitarian Framework

Unlike standard commercial shipments, this operation was conducted under a non-commercial, humanitarian structure, aligned with international cooperation efforts aimed at institutional support and stabilization.

As such, the project required:

  • Close coordination with international organizations, including the United Nations
  • Collaboration with government authorities and specialized logistics partners
  • Compliance with international agreements and protocols
  • Application of customs and tax exemptions to humanitarian regulations

These elements add layers of complexity that require a logistics partner with proven experience, reliability, and the ability to operate under strict frameworks.

Multi-Stakeholder Coordination

One of the key success factors in this operation was the synchronization of multiple actors involved in the process. From institutional entities to operational partners, each phase required precise communication, alignment, and execution.

BFI El Salvador led the coordination efforts, ensuring:

  • Clear operational timelines
  • Real-time visibility across all stages
  • Risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Consistent execution standards across the supply chain

BFI El Salvador: Expertise Beyond Standard Logistics

This project reinforces BFI El Salvador’s position as a trusted partner in project logistics and humanitarian operations, capable of handling shipments that go beyond conventional freight forwarding.

Our approach is based on:

  • Strategic planning
  • Disciplined execution
  • Commitment to operational excellence

We understand that operations of this nature are not simply about moving cargo — they are about delivering reliability in environments where precision and accountability are critical.

Conclusion

With this successful execution, BFI El Salvador continues to strengthen its role in specialized logistics solutions, supporting complex operations that require expertise, structure, and trust.

Operational Guidance for IAM Partners | Imports into El Salvador

Dear IAM Partners,

I would like to share important guidance regarding imports into El Salvador, in line with current criteria applied by the Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA).
According to the provisions applied under DACG-016-2025, the DGA allows import operations to be structured using up to two import declarations, with a maximum declared value of up to USD 100,000 per category, provided that all customs requirements, valuation rules, and supporting documentation are properly met for salvadoreans or naturalized citizens.

This value limit applies independently to each of the following categories:
• Household goods up to USD 100,000
• Vehicles (of all types) up to USD 100,000
• Work tools and professional equipment up to USD 100,000

Additional operational experience:
Based on our direct experience applying this framework in real operations, we have successfully managed imports under each of these categories, always coordinating transparently with customs authorities and in full compliance with DGA declaration, valuation, and control procedures.
As active members of IAM, we believe in sharing clear, experience based information that supports our partners and helps protect their operation. In my role, I focus on explaining these processes in a practical and straight forward manner, ensuring agents understand not only what is permitted, but how to structure the operation correctly.
If you have a specific case or would like to review how this framework may apply to an upcoming shipment to El Salvador, I will be glad to assist you directly.

Warm regards,
